My name is Amy Dumoulin, and I am a fourth year Marketing student in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce program at McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business. I have been active in DeGroote’s marketing community since my first year, starting as First Year Representative for the school’s Marketing Association, then nominated Vice President of Communications in my second year.
In my third year I co-chaired a marketing case competition called MARS Apprentice. MARS (Marketing, Advertising, Retail and Sales) Apprentice is a five-week intense business program wherein two teams of six students each compete. The teams develop solutions to a new challenge that is presented to them by industry professionals each week. The teams present their solution to a panel of industry judges, professors and an audience of 80-100 guests. At the end of the five weeks, the team with the greatest number of winning solutions becomes the ultimate MARS Apprentice with career opportunities, internships and cash awards on offer. As co-chair of the program, this role allowed me to build a strong skill set in communications, time management, event planning and hosting, and managing teams of volunteers. It also provided me with an opportunity to forge new and maintain existing relationships with program sponsors. I am now in my fourth and final year completing my degree.

I have been asked to edit the content that Sean Hurley has been writing for his new site, seanhurley.com. Topics include online marketing, branding, email marketing, analytics, web design, graphic design and user experience. As editor, I have the opportunity to be exposed to a wide range of topics regarding online marketing, as well as gain valuable experience using a WordPress content management system.
Lead writer, sponsormetoride.ca
My team mate and I will be participating in the 2012 Ride to Conquer Cancer on June 9th and 10th. In an effort to create a more interactive and personal fundraising platform, we have launched a website! As lead writer for Sponsormetoride.ca, I am responsible for writing all content for the site, including content for all landing pages as well as regular posts for the blog.

My secondary role for sponsormetoride.ca is to provide daily site administration. This role has enabled me to gain experience in managing a WordPress content management system, to learn about content styling and using WordPress Plugins, as well as understanding Google Analytics.
